Nursing Department Outreach Class (In-hospital Junior High School)

2026-08-27
We conducted an outreach lesson for third-year junior high school students at Usa City Innai Junior High School. Following our recent lesson at Nakatsu City Toyo Junior High School, this was our second outreach lesson this academic year. Six third-year nursing students, including an Innai Junior High School graduate, taught a lesson on first aid and emergency medical procedures using an AED. After the explanation and demonstration, the students were divided into three groups to try it out.
The junior high school students actively participated and enjoyed the activity, giving feedback such as, "If someone collapsed in front of me, I'd like to do what I can to help," "The high school students were very kind and explained things clearly," and "I've become interested in nursing as a career." This experiential lesson was conducted with the students discussing and collaborating on the explanations, the flow of the lesson, how to approach the students, and key points for support.
Through these outreach classes, we gain experiences that we can't learn in regular school classes, such as interacting with junior high school students and developing adaptability, which allows us to feel our growth as nursing students.
